The Volunteer Center of Jefferson County
provides transportation
for people in Jefferson County who have not other means of transportation.
Those living within the City of Watertown need to utilize public
transportation if possible.
• Senior Transportation Program- For people aged 60 years or older
who are considered low income and have no other means of transportation.
Transportation is provided for medical appointments, dialysis, therapy,
and groceries. All applicants must be approved by the Office for the
Aging.
• Project Wings- Assist blind and visually impaired residents of
Jefferson County in becoming more independent and expanding socially.
Transportation is provided for medical appointments, dialysis, therapy,
groceries, and support group meetings. All individuals must register
with the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired of Jefferson
County.
• Persons With Disabilities Program (PWD)-
The Persons With Disabilities Program serves Jefferson County residents with developmental
and physical disabilities. It is the goal of PWD to help promote inclusion into the
community by providing transportation for medical appointments, day
treatments, community functions, etc.
•Other Transportation Program- Established to provide transportation to those in Jefferson County who have an urgent need and do not qualify for
the first three
transportation programs. Qualification for this program is
established by the Executive Director and is open to the extent that funds
are available.
All of the Volunteer Center’s transportation is provided by the generosity of volunteer drivers.
No one is denied services due to the inability to pay; however, donations are encouraged to help cover costs.
