
OUR GOAL
To provide children and families with the treatment, education, and support services that make a positive and lasting impact on their ability to function individually, as a family, and as members of the community.
OUR PROGRAMS
• Residential Treatment Center-
A campus-based, four-cottage program serving boys and girls with significant behavioral disorders. Children are placed because of histories of abuse, neglect, or as the result of Family Court orders.
• Continued Care- Offers the necessary support to successfully transition children home, reducing time in care.
• Independent Living Program- Evaluates independent living skills of young people, 14 years or older, and develops goals for training, discharge, and aftercare to help young people successfully live on their own.
• Tilton School- Provides a 12 month educational program for a maximum enrollment of 126 students. It is certified by the NYS Education Department and is accredited through the eighth grade. The goal of the school is to help students develop the skills necessary to successfully return to their community schools.
• Foster Family Care Program- Provides foster families to over 100 children living in 100 homes located in 8 countries including Jefferson. Offices in Watertown coordinate regular, specialized, therapeutic, respite, and emergency levels of foster care.
• Families Foremost Program-
Serves children and families identified as at the highest risk of out-of-home placement with an intensive, short-term array of support services in their homes and the community.
• Non-Secure Detention- Serves 10 boys and girls, ages 7-16. Youth are awaiting appearance in Family Court for Person in Need of Supervision and Juvenile Delinquent action. It provides short-term residence of up to 30 days, supervision, educational services, and foster boarding home beds.
• Milton Abelove Children’s Shelter-
Provides children and families in crisis with a short-term, emergency placement option.
Health Services are provided to each child by a nursing staff, psychiatrists and a medical director.
Treatment Services are managed through a process of assessment, treatment planning, and discharge planning for each child reviewed by an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Quality Improvement ensures the provision of high quality, cost effective services to children, families, customers, and staff through continuous refinement and improvement of agency performance.
