PLACEMENT
PROGRAMS
best suited for youth ages 10 - 17
• Emergency Placement Program (EPP)-
Intends to meet the needs of the parents of children in crisis and to overt hospital
placement. EPP provides a safe and secure temporary home.
• Emergency Care Program (ECC)- In response to round-the-clock emergency care, CHJC offers group emergency care for up to 30 days. These children are identified as requiring immediate care which is either unavailable in or beyond the scope of regular foster care homes.
• 30/60 Day Diagnostic Program-
Comprehensively assesses and makes recommendations as to the appropriate level of placement based on the child’s individual needs.
• Residential/Long Term Care Program-Designed to provide rehabilitation, direction, and the skills and opportunities for successful functioning in the community.
A Clinical Services Program is available to
youth, ages 10-17, who are placed in the care of the Children’s Home. The goal of the Clinical Services is to assist all at-risk youth in emotional development through specialized individual and group counseling.
A Recreation Program is available to at-risk youth, ages 10-17, who are enrolled in the Residential Program at the Children’s Home of Jefferson County. The goal of the Recreation Program is to provide a multitude of on and off-campus recreation activities that allow each child the opportunity of building team skills, self-confidence, good sportsmanship, and feeling physically satisfied about themselves.
An Education Program is available to youth, ages 10-17, who are enrolled in a program at the Children’s Home of Jefferson County. The ultimate goal of the Education Program is to help each child improve their academic standing through a structured education program.
A Foster Care Program is available for boys and girls ages 7-17 who are exhibiting negative behaviors, are emotionally disturbed, having difficulties in their home or surroundings, school and/or community, and behaviors necessitate out-of-home placement. The goal of a resource parent is to provide a temporary or long term care of a child.
A Prevention Program is available to youth aged 7-12. The mission of the program is to prevent out-of-home placement for youth and reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect. The Children’s Home provides services while assisting families to achieve their health and safety needs, family service needs, and youth service needs.
A Non-Secure Detention Program for ages 10-17. This program provides the child with a safe, healthy, and structured environment until their case has been decided through final disposition of the court. Children are remanded to this program by the Family Court Judge.
An Aftercare Program is available, and best suited for children ages 10-17, who have been successfully discharged from placement, not limited to the Children’s Home of Jefferson County. The goal of Aftercare is to provide services that support a smooth
transition for the child and family from residential care to their home and community.
