The Community Action Planning Council of Jefferson County, Inc. is a private non-profit multi-service agency serving the people of Jefferson County since 1966.
OUR PURPOSE
To assist, motivate and support people in need.
OUR
PROGRAMS
• Family Center- The key to self-reliance and inter-dependence in the community.
• Housing & Energy Services- The key to a warmer, safer home.
• Restore- CAPC provides home repairs for persons over 60 years of age for emergency conditions that would impose immediate threat to the health and safety of the household.
• Home- CAPC provides moderate rehabilitation services for owner occupied homes.
• Head Start- The key to a rewarding experience for families and pre-school children age 3 and 4 through pre-school education.
• Tax Counseling- The key to Income Tax assistance.
• Fair Housing Office- CAPC is designated as the
Fair Housing Office for Jefferson County
and is the information and referral
agency for persons with questions or complaints about housing or housing practices and landlord/tenant issues.
• Limited Purpose Food Bank- Coordinates a system of food donation and distribution to emergency food pantries throughout Jefferson County. A three day supply of food is provided with each food package.
Hours are Tuesday and Thursday 9-12 and 1-4, Friday 1-4.
• Family Development Credentialing- Offers the opportunity for skill building in the field of family development through a program of class instruction, field advisement, practicum, experience and portfolio development.
• USDA Summer Food Service- Provides lunch and breakfast or lunch and a snack for an average daily participation of 600 children at open sites throughout Jefferson County during the summer months when school meals are not available.
• Child Development Associate Program- Offers training to enrolled participants through a program of class instruction and practical experience preparing them as candidates for CDA credential and employment in the child care field.
• Child Care Food Program for Family Day Care Providers- A service that includes training, technical assistance, and cost of meal reimbursement to family day care providers interested in offering nutritious meals and snacks to children in their care through participation in the CACFP program.
• Universal Pre-Kindergarten- A statewide program offering a 2½ hour quality early education experience.
• Facilitated Enrollment- Trained CAPC staff can assist families in receiving health insurance coverage through
Child Health Plus
and
Medicaid.
• Child Care Resource and Referral- CCR & R is an information and referral resource for locating available certified day care for your child.
• Nutrition Outreach & Education-
Enables eligible households to receive food stamps, to participate in other federal feeding programs and to increase participation in the
Summer Food
Service Programs.
- Homebound Meals -
Residents in the Carthage-Wilna area who are
temporarily disabled are eligible to have two meals delivered daily to
their home.
